The muX project

The project is conducting a series of muonic X-ray measurements in medium- and high-Z nuclei at PSI, utilizing high-purity germanium detector array, in-beam muon detectors, modern digital data-acquisition system. A novel hydrogen target for transfer was developed, enabling with as little few micrograms material. First radioactive Cm Ra targets were conducted, aimed determining their nuclear charge radii. These serve important input upcoming atomic parity violation experiments. apparatus also used to perform feasibility study an experiment the 2s-1s 2s?1s transition.
